Grand Rapids & West Michigan Family Photographer

A young boy stands in a grassy field in West Michigan, smiling softly as the golden-hour light casts a warm glow. A timeless childhood portrait capturing innocence and joy.

Family sessions are available May through October and are held outdoors at beautiful locations in and around Grand Rapids. These sessions focus on the genuine connections and bonds shared between your family, creating timeless memories you’ll treasure for years to come.

Before your session, we’ll go over every detail to customize the perfect experience for you. Through your pre-session planning questionnaire, I’ll learn more about your vision—whether it’s a sun-soaked field, a golden beach, or a cozy wooded backdrop. During the session, I’ll guide you through natural interactions and prompts to create images that truly reflect the love and joy within your family.

Each session includes a variety of portraits, from full family shots to sweet, candid moments between parents and children, as well as individual portraits of each child. My goal is to make the experience fun, relaxed, and stress-free—allowing your family’s unique connection to shine.

Family sessions are available on a limited basis from May through October. To reserve your session, fill out the contact form below or email me at honeywildphoto@gmail.com. I can’t wait to capture these special moments for you!

We had an amazing experience with Jackie. She interacted with our kids which kept them engaged, and the whole session felt fun and relaxed. Her work is beautiful and I’ll cherish these photos forever!

Absolutely love all of the photos we have done through Jackie @ Honeywild Photography!! We have done newborn, sitter milestone, family session, a popup, and now a first birthday and most likely many more in the future!! She provides such a welcoming and warm environment and is so wonderful to work with!! I recommend her 10/10 times when i know someone looking for a newborn photographer and i get so many compliments on all of our photos!!

Yes. However, once booked all retainers are non refundable, as I am holding the date for you and turning away other clients.

can i cancel/reschedule my session?

Absolutely. While your session fee includes the session & digital files only, I also offer custom designed albums, keepsakes and professional prints after your session.

do you offer albums & prints?

Post-processing is the most time intensive part of your shoot, and so typically my session turnaround is about 3-5 weeks. Photos are delivered via digital download for instant access and easy sharing.

when/how will i receive my images?

Short answer; Yes!
Long answer; I do require a $50 retainer in order to reserve your session on my calendar and I am happy to create a payment plan that works with your family

do you offer payment plans?

Since family sessions take place outdoors, I always keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your session. If we’re facing rain or extreme weather, I’ll work with you to reschedule to the next available date that works for both of us. Overcast skies can actually create beautiful, soft lighting, so unless it’s storming, we can still create gorgeous, timeless images!

What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

I recommend neutral and earth-tone colors that complement the natural outdoor setting, such as warm beiges, soft blues, muted greens, and classic whites. Flowy dresses, textured fabrics, and layers add beautiful movement and depth to your photos. Avoid overly bright colors, large logos, or busy patterns, as they can distract from your family’s connection. After booking, I’ll send a styling guide with more tips and outfit inspiration to help you feel confident and coordinated!

What should we wear for our family session?

I offer family sessions May through October, taking advantage of West Michigan’s beautiful outdoor scenery and natural light. The best time of day for sessions is typically golden hour—just before sunset, when the light is soft and flattering. I recommend booking your session at least a few months in advance, as my calendar fills quickly during the warmer months!
